TASK 2: ESSAY

According to Duff the translation is essential in language learning and has three purposes that allow the student to acquire a second language. They are Flexibility, accuracy, and clarity.  In the flexibility, the translation in groups can encourage learners to discuss the meaning and use of language at the deepest possible levels as they work through the process of understanding and then looking for equivalents in another language. Accuracy, many learners living in either their own countries or a new one need to translate language on a daily basis, both informally and formally. There are contexts that require certain words and that is why the translators' thinking has to focus on those contexts when trying to give an accurate meaning. Therefore, this second purpose makes the student more objective when presenting the right word for the translation. Clarity, finally the third purpose is to take the learner to transmit a clear message in which He says exactly what has been issued in the first language if it is not this way there will be a distortion of the message and distortion in learning.
In conclusion, these three purposes not only allow us an effective translation but also will strengthen our level of learning. In other words, translation is important for learning a second language but requires certain techniques and a method that guarantees it and makes it effective and valid in its presentation.

TASK 5: CONCLUSIONS
My conclusion is that translation is important for learning a second language such as English, but we can not do it or apply it without taking into account certain techniques and steps that experts indicate. The translation process involves different elements not only grammatical and linguistic but contextual and cultural at the same time. I also want to emphasize that the use of new technological tools have potentiated the levels of translation and have allowed a complete revolution in simultaneous translation. Finally, I consider that this academic activity is a motivation to strengthen and develop our translation skills as learners of a second language such as English.
